Making work for the public realm

During a cycle ride along the Taff Trail I thought about how my idea might be better of if I developed it for the Taff Trail. I have seen a number of people using the trail as a commuter route but due to some areas that are not particularly well kept it can be tricky to navigate as a hiking path. I therefore am choosing this 28.6 mile stretch of trail between Merthyr Tydfil Station and Cardiff Bay:

Distance map

I will be cycling this route in the coming weeks to better document the area as I currently have only been able to cycle the area between Cardiff Bay and Taffs Well.

Remembering an educational piece in Lake Vyrnwy of a scale map of the solar system I thought about how the Taff trail could become a “map of the world” with accurate scaled down distance between the important landmark domes and information about those landmarks. Creating checkpoints along the trail for people to meet at or have picnics at during a walk.

Hopefully bringing more people out onto the Taff trail and possibly causing the route to be brought to the attention of the local councils.
