Trees and Structure

While working on the structural paintings I was aware that the shapes were not perfectly geometric and so must stem from a visual inspiration that I was not fully aware of. Upon further thought I discovered myself being drawn to the shapes made by silhouetted trees at night.

The piece above is a test done in my journal that explores this thought, with its A2 counterpart positioned below. While the pieces themselves do not represent the work that I am hoping to produce in the future it represents a turning point in the understanding of my position as an artist; my style of painting relies upon instinctual decision making and understanding of aesthetics. Therefore my contextual focus will now move in this direction also.
